A chance meeting on a moonlit Havana night. An alluring Cuban pilot and a young American soldier.
Can they outrun the threat of nuclear war?
Lieutenant Charlie Parnell grinds through his daily routine in Army Intelligence at Arlington Hall Station, Virginia. He monitors Havana radio transmissions, and he debriefs Cuban refugees. but what he’s counting are the dreary days until his military discharge. This plan changes when two suits from the CIA show up and coerce him to go to Havana to help oust Fidel Castro.
As the scheme unfolds, Charlie learns of another complication his CIA handlers neglected to tell him. The Russians have installed nuclear missiles in Cuba, and the American military threatens war if they are not removed. If war breaks out, Charlie will be a ground zero in Havana with only one extremely risky evacuation route.
Skeptical of his CIA handlers, Charlie devises a backup escape plan. Everything is on track until he meets an attractive Cuban pilot and her daughter. Before any of them know it, they’re running for their lives.

An exciting story built off real events
Goodbye Cuba is a well-told story of fictional intrigue, set within the most frightening historical event ever known. The imaginary and real elements are woven together seamlessly, as Charlie struggles desperately to save his life, while humanity balances on the edge of nuclear annihilation.

Couldn't put this book down!
I just finished Goodbye Cuba and could hardly put it down! Thanks for the page turner and a look into Cuba in the 1960s. In 1962, I was 11 and my mother stocked our basement with water and canned goods in case of a nuclear war with Cuba. My grandmother was sure we would soon be living under Soviet rule. The fact that we avoided those 60’s threats - although narrowly- gives me hope we will also survive today’s threats. Fingers crossed!
